Cari Makan: Zanmai Pasta @ 1U

Very long time ago after eating at so many places (yea man, my diet plan is “working”) I’m back here blogging about a place I found quite different compared to the rest. Probably a bit slow on this but hey!! I’ve only been back for a month :(!

Oklar! Been ranting enough! Sister, Eric and I decided to go shopping @ 1 Utama but was too hungry as dad was not free to go lunch with us. So we decided to pop by Zanmai Pasta, a place recommended by Jian before as “not bad”.  We ordered quite a fair bit. A sashimi salad, two pastas, clam soup as well as potato salad!

Eric’s salad as he said he wanted to feel healthy!

P1000743

This drink.. jesus @.@ OKla green sign = toxic or poisonous right? Yea, that applies here. $3.50 “special” brew was no where near special compared to Yobi’s suggested Barley Lime from Bumbu Bali!

P1000749

A serve of potato salad @ rm6.00 was nice. Matches Fuji’s @ Vic Park, Perth. Tasted very light even though egg and cream was all over. The lettuce at the back was drizzled with Zanmai’s homemade sauce which I have to admit tasted like “my type”.

P1000753

This was Eric’s soup with lots of clam inside. About 10-15 perhaps? Not bad I guess. I remember there was a time where Tom Yam seafood put in two of those and it was supposed to be a big deal @.@. I did not taste it but Eric say quite good wor. I’ll take his word for it I’d suppose!

Next up is my sister’s pasta. XXXX no chili pasta. Weirdly enough “no chili” means ala chili in Jap. She says she liked the simplicity of this pasta. No overpowering sauce pushing the seafood taste away. I found it boring though lol. But it was nicela, just boring haha. The mushrooms tasted good in this dish!

Sister’s salad with the dressing I talked about before:

P1000756

And lastly, my chicken pasta!

P1000759

I love Teriyaki at the right place and being served with pasta does not seem like a bad idea at all. In fact it turned out quite yummy! Although I have to insist that the chicken was not cooked to satisfy me like at Kanta in Perth lol. No bias here man. Just plain truth!! The final bill came to around $100+. Nonetheless, Zanmai has made 3 person that day satisfied as fat pigs.

Will be hitting you peeps with more eats as I come alive tomorrow morning! It’s bed time :D Adios!~

Something Cute ~ Fluff ball Bibi!

It's been quite a hectic week so far. But I'm loving every single bit of it!  Studies are also going to be in code red in just a moments time as 4 exams are due next week! HOho... this might be my last post till then but again, perhaps not!  Last week David Jones was having sale too hehehe Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren n other brands were one sale as well! But none of the peeps bought anything coz Yi Heng bought his NIke Sbs and his Ipod Nano and is feeling guilty, William bought his Sennheisser HD 555 rwarrr, and Jhui bought a car @.@..

The weekend was really really fun too!! On Saturday Mandy and I cooked branch or more like I COOKED branch.  We had Pasta Stroganoff.  She loved every bit of it and I'm  glad. hehe.  After that we went over to my sister's place to spend the rest of the weekend!  If you all remember I promised to take some picture of my sister's baby :)

Hehe well everyone, it is pretty obvious already. But if you have not noticed, my sister's new baby is not really a BABY but a lil puppy called Bibi.  She is from the Maltese-Shih Tzu. breed  According to my sister this Bibi is really a baby!  Need to sleep like 1000 times a day.  Cries in the middle of the night.  Need to take it's meal often, loves and needs a lot of attention.  But it is really a nice lil living soul.  Amanda really love it as well haha.. She now says if I every want to give her a teddy bear I can just buy a puppy for her instead but nahhhh it'll be ages before I do so since we're both too caught up with university things.

Bibi looking eagerly at her mommy cooking dinner!! We had bak kut teh that night! Not bad but the meat was no tender enough :p

After awhile, Bibi got tired and needed a rest after her meal! She looked so manja every time she's about to fall asleep.. So I need to kacau her ahahah! Every time I do that I get scolding by her AUNTY.

zzzZzzz... sleeping time :) Cute horr!! Sometimes I compare her to a baby polar bear !! Looks really similar! Hen Ke Ai :P Like my sweetheart ahaha

IMG_0712mod

Someone feeling a tad of drowsiness after her half hour nap?? Or perhaps half minute sleep since I disturbed her a lil :)

After dinner, I tried to do my work again.. the civil question is really so annoying!! Had 7 tried on it before getting it right and JEezzzz the answer really took so long to get.. But I finally got it right :) And guess what?? Mr Hua got home from work and copy my working!! Sooo not fairrrrr!! But it is ok!! I get free lunch from him!!

After dinner we were having some family hour with Bibi "baby-ing"  us with her baby attitude and gestures. But gosh when she bites you, I think you will consider her a devil!! So painful lerr her nibble.. But it is normal for puppies to be like this since they go through a period called teething! The clock hit an hour before midnight and we started monopolyyy.. Wah in that game my sister only got like 1?2? perhaps 3 properties lol.

The game was soooo tiring that I eventually gave up after 2 hour into the game.  Gave sweetheart my assets while I dropped a property to my sister at cost price.  Lied on the couch before falling asleep!  At 3 they decided to call it a day... *Finally*...

And the final picture for the little dog!! Looking as blur as everrrR

On Sunday I worked at Super IGA at Belmont for 6 hours before going to Nando's and I downed 3/4 of a chicken man!! Soo damn hungry coz lunch at 4!  Later in the night, there was  a family dinner at my uncle's place.  My aunty from M'sia is here for good hehe.  Dinner was nice, had a different Ricadonna dessert wine. Very fruit and bubblyy so niceee!

A very accomplished weekend!! And now, to achieve an accomplished mid-semester period!

No. 26: Spring Fest @ UWA

It has been a very tiring day for me considering I only had 2hours and 45 minutes of sleep yesterday thanks to the water sustainability project from IPE. Nonetheless, my attendance at the UWA Spring Fest was a great experience. It was my first time being involved in selling food. At first when Jia Hui asked me to start this thing with his housemates, I was rather hesitant but still joined them after some persuasion.

After weeks of preparation, we finally decided to sell grass jelly soy milk, fried wantons and HK curry fishballs and meatballs! We were rather pessimistic about our success considering how inexperienced we were. However, it was amazing to see how quickly our combination of almost 2000 balls were gone so very quickly... *poof*

We started about 6.30 p.m. and we were actually about 40 minutes late. I was actually shocked to see how many other stalls have already started selling their things whereas we were only carrying the things from the car -.-

Quickly, we fitted the gas stove and put the deep fryer into place. It was a matter of minutes that we had the balls boiling in curry and wantons frying. The event was very particular on hygiene. So I sported a hair cap with a red and white stripe apron =.=.

CIMG1241

The apron and the hair cap lol! Looked like a clown

Business did not start until about 7 o'clock for us as it took quite long for the fish balls to absorb the curry sauce and be bloated.. Not to mention, the wantons took quite some time to cook as well. However, once business started picking up pace.... time was like passing so fast I tell you... there was so many people ordering in an unordered manner. Fortunately for me, I did not really forget to serve anyone!!

Queue up PEOPLE!!! N wait!@#!

Once people started buying our balls, it never stopped. Both Asians and Australians alike provided very good business to our stall. Some even came back for second and third serves! It was really a great pleasure to see your food being enjoyed by others.

CIMG1237

They had about 36 wantons!

CIMG1238

She says two sticks but she actually already had 3 :)

At about 8.30p.m. we sold out last two sticks of HK fish ball to an ang moh girl. I would say she was very friendly, looked fairly pretty and definitely looked very delighted to eat our HK fish balls :)

CIMG1248

Thanks for finishing it! You look good haha

After that... we were DONE no balls left!! YEAAAAAAAAA!!!! We were surprisingly the first stall to clear all our stocks. Although we had some soy milk left :P So we had the boss count the money and finalized the sum which is 600+ AUD. Not to bad if you ask me haha!

No. 26!! A very enjoyable moment! THX :)

Counting counting counting!!! Once finalised, we had a group picture :) And even though we were the first to sell out.... we only made 64 cents profit per person lOl. Nonetheless I enjoyed myself and it was great fun to communicate with so many people and see quite a lot of chicks! haha

Time to get a good sleep now :)
